Last night we held one of the highlights of the Otley Camera Club calendar — our annual Photo of the Year competition.

Throughout the evening, members revisited the images that had received awards in competitions over the course of the season. Everyone then selected their three favourite images, with the scores revealed Eurovision Song Contest style. It made for a brilliant evening, with the lead changing hands several times as the votes were announced.

By the end of the voting, we had three images tied for third place, a closely fought second place, and one clear overall winner.

Congratulations to Claire Wilson-Sharp, whose beautiful image “Preening Avocet” was crowned Photo of the Year.

The image is a wonderfully elegant black-and-white wildlife photograph, capturing the avocet in a graceful preening pose against a minimalist background. The delicate reflection in the water, combined with the striking contrast and simplicity of the composition, created an image that really stood out with the members.

A huge well done to Claire and to everyone whose work featured during the evening. The quality and variety of photography produced by club members this season has been exceptional.

If you would like to see this image and many more from our members, don’t forget our upcoming Annual Exhibition:

📍 All Saints Parish Church, Otley📅 30th & 31st May

We look forward to welcoming you along.
