I became a member of the club in September 2016 and was elected joint chair in January 2020. I've always enjoyed photography but really was just a point and shoot person. After becoming a parent, I wanted to get better photographs of the children and began on the journey of using a DSLR. From the moment, the enjoyment became a passion and developed a thirst to learn and develop more. Otley Camera Club was the solution to this. I learnt so much from the members, the judges and the speakers. The competitions pushed me out of my comfort zone and made to take photos that I wouldn't normally take. I don't have a style as I am easily influenced! An inspirational nature photographer will do a talk and nature is my thing but then a week later we will be visited by a landscape photographer and all of a sudden landscape is my thing.
The main thing for me is enjoyment. I love taking photos but also enjoy the opportunities it brings, the places it takes me to and the people I get to meet. When I take a photo that I like, it's great. If someone else likes it, that is just a bonus.
I sell some of my photos through Pic Fair. You can visit the store here.
