A Fantastic Day at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

While our regular Thursday evening meetings take a break over the summer, Otley Camera Club's photography certainly doesn't!
Today, a group of our members headed to Yorkshire Wildlife Park for one of our regular informal photography outings. Joining us were several students who recently completed a Photography for Beginners course at Prince Henry's Grammar School, run by one of our members, making it a great opportunity to continue learning and putting new skills into practice.
With temperatures set to soar, we arrived as the gates opened, hoping to catch the animals before they sought refuge from the heat. Thankfully, our early start paid off, with many of the animals active and providing plenty of fantastic photographic opportunities.
The undisputed highlight of the day was the cheetah cubs, whose endless energy had everyone smiling. Watching them race around, play-fight and explore their surroundings made for some unforgettable moments—and some equally memorable photographs.
These summer outings are about far more than just photography. They provide a wonderful opportunity for members of all abilities to spend time together, exchange ideas, help one another improve and simply enjoy a shared passion for photography in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
By the time we left later in the afternoon, the animals had wisely settled down for a well-earned rest in the shade... and, after a full day of walking, photographing and chatting, we were more than ready to do the same!
We look forward to sharing some of our members' favourite images from what was another fantastic Otley Camera Club day out.
