Next week marks the start of our Members’ Talks evenings at Otley Camera Club — a chance for our members to share their photographic journeys, adventures, and insights. We’re excited to begin with two very different but equally inspiring talks.
Danni Burgess – My Photography Journey Through Pictures
Danni may only have joined Otley Camera Club a year ago, but she has already impressed us with her passion and talent, especially in the field of wildlife photography. In her talk, Danni will share her love for capturing wildlife and reflect on how her skills have developed over the years. It promises to be a fascinating and uplifting session that will inspire us all to keep exploring our own creativity.
David Baron – Photographing the Himalayan Research Expedition
In 2011, David took on the role of Photography Manager for the Himalayan Research Expedition, organised by Leeds Met University. The project aimed to gather data for a PhD study on pre-acclimatisation to altitude. David’s responsibility was to document the expedition, both for research purposes and to provide images for sponsors such as Adidas and Buff, who had supplied vital equipment. His talk will bring this remarkable journey to life, combining scientific research, adventure, and the challenges of photographing in extreme environments.
We’re really looking forward to these talks, which highlight the diversity of experiences and creativity within our club. They remind us that photography is not just about the images themselves, but also about the journeys, stories, and people behind the lens.
