Making the Most of a Change of Plan: A Night of Workflow & Printing Demonstrations

Last night’s meeting was supposed to take place outdoors, but the weather — or more accurately, the forecast — had other ideas. Fortunately, at Otley Camera Club we’re never short of talented members willing to step in, and what could have been a lost evening turned into a truly informative and engaging session.

RAW-to-Print with Chris

We were then treated to a live demonstration from Chris, who walked us through his entire process of preparing a RAW image for print. From initial adjustments through to soft proofing and sharpening, he explained each step in detail. To top it all off, he brought in his printer — allowing us to see the final print emerge right there in the clubhouse. There’s something genuinely special about watching a digital image become a physical photograph.

Workflow & Product Photography with Keith

Keith gave us an insightful look at how he processes his product photography. His demonstration broke down the steps he takes to bring out detail, control reflections, and craft a polished final image. It was a great opportunity for members of all experience levels to see a clear, practical workflow in action using a variety of photo processing software.

Looking Ahead: A Journey into Miniature Worlds

Next week, we’re excited to welcome David Gilliver, who will be taking us on a fascinating journey into his miniature worlds. His work is full of character, imagination, and meticulous attention to detail, and we’re very much looking forward to exploring the stories and techniques behind his creations.
