What’s On This Week – Practical Scavenger Hunt

This Thursday we're swapping the clubhouse for the streets of Otley as we head out and about for a fun and creative photography scavenger hunt!

We'll split into small groups before heading off around Otley with a list of photographic challenges to complete. The aim is to find and photograph different themes and ideas – perhaps glass, reflections, silhouettes, movement and plenty more.

The challenges are designed to make us look at familiar places in a different way and encourage everyone to experiment with their photography.

Bring your camera – or your phone. There are no rules about what you use to take your photographs. Some members may head out with their main DSLR or mirrorless camera, while others might choose to use their mobile phone.

It's not about having the best equipment – it's about seeing the opportunity and creating an interesting photograph.

One of the things we really like about these practical evenings is that they're about much more than taking photographs.

Working in small groups gives members the chance to share ideas, swap hints and tips and learn from one another. It's also a great way for newer members to meet people and get to know the club in a relaxed and informal setting.

And, of course, there should be plenty of fun along the way!

We also want everyone to be able to take part.

For anyone who would find walking around Otley difficult, we'll have an indoor group based at Otley Common. You'll still be able to take part in the photographic challenges, experiment with different ideas and enjoy the evening alongside other members.

Once the groups return, we'll get together to look through the photographs we've taken. Each group will choose their favourite image for each category, before sharing their choices with everyone.

It will be fascinating to see how different people interpret the same challenge – and we're sure there will be some creative, unexpected and maybe even amusing results!
