On Saturday 5th July 2014 Otley welcomed the Tour de France. It was a magical day for the townsfolk and the wider cycling community who packed the route in their thousands.

A long term friend of the camera club, Mark Currie, Catapult Films made a film about the day and the Camera Club produced a slide show of members images. These were showcased at two sellout events at the Courthouse and was followed up with a souvenir photobook and DVD produced by Otley Town Council.

The film can be viewed on this link: The day the Tour came to Otley and

Our deputy chairman, Andrew Hoyle, was one of the photographers and videographers and recalls a very long but unforgettable day starting at 3:15 am and finishing through exhaustion at around 6:30 pm.

This was the start of the Camera Club's involvment in Otley and surrounding community events recording memories for everyone to enjoy both now and in the future. For more details check our website and if you are interested in photography do call in and see us on a Thursday evening on Mercury Row. Meetings start at 7:15pm from September to May.
