Meet the Members – Margaret Purkis

Our Meet the Members series continues with someone who has quickly become an invaluable part of Otley Camera Club – Margaret Purkis.

Margaret recently completed her second year with us, and in that short time she’s made a big impression. At our last AGM, she generously stepped forward to take on the role of Secretary, a position that helps keep the club running smoothly. We’re delighted – and very grateful – to have her in that role.

Like many of our newer members, Margaret began her camera club journey by quietly observing the competitions, getting a feel for the process before entering herself. It wasn’t long before she decided to give it a go, and her very first entries showed real promise.

That promise was rewarded earlier this year when she achieved a Highly Commended in the Multiple Exposure competition – her first award. We’re certain it won’t be her last.

Margaret’s photography captures a thoughtful eye for composition and an openness to creative experimentation. As you’ll see from the images below, she’s not afraid to explore new techniques and perspectives.

We look forward to seeing where her photographic journey takes her next – and we’re proud to have her as part of our club community.
