What’s On This Week: Peter Lau – Wheeling on the Wilder Side of Life
This Thursday, Otley Camera Club welcomes Peter Lau for an inspiring evening of wildlife photography, personal stories and the power of reconnecting with nature.
Peter was a British fire officer whose life changed dramatically following a mountain biking accident in 2014, which left him paralysed and reliant on a wheelchair. Despite the challenges, photography helped Peter rediscover his passion for the natural world.
Today, he captures stunning wildlife images and uses his experiences to champion greater accessibility to nature, encouraging people with disabilities to discover the enjoyment and benefits of connecting with the outdoors.
His talk, Wheeling on the Wilder Side of Life, promises to be an uplifting evening, combining beautiful wildlife photography with a powerful personal story about determination, adaptation and finding new ways to pursue a passion.
The evening is also an important date in our club calendar as we hold our annual Charity Night, raising funds for Accessible Nature UK, Peter’s charity.
The charity works to help people with disabilities access and enjoy the natural world. Its aims reflect something that photography can do so well: encourage us to look more closely at the world around us and appreciate the experiences nature has to offer.
We look forward to welcoming Peter and supporting this worthwhile cause.
