Congratulations to David Baron, whose excellent cricket photograph has been selected as our Photo of the Month for May.
Chosen by last month's winner, Chris Burgess, the image captures a dramatic moment in professional cricket as Keaton Jennings is clean bowled by Ian Holland for 10. The flying bails, the displaced stumps and the batsman's reaction combine to create a photograph that perfectly freezes a split second of sporting action.
In selecting the image, Chris said:
"I really enjoyed this photo – a perfect moment, captured really well. Cricket pitches are waking up across the nation, and it's important to communities across the country. In most ruraareas it's a focal point."
The photograph demonstrates the anticipation, timing and technical skill required for successful sports photography. Capturing the exact moment of impact is never easy, making this a particularly impressive image.
As always, our thanks go to everyone who submitted photographs this month. The standard continues to be incredibly high, making the judging a difficult task.
Congratulations again to David, who not only receives the traditional chocolate prize but also takes on the responsibility of selecting our next Photo of the Month winner.
We look forward to seeing what images members submit for June! 📸🏏
