Meet The Members – Claire Wilson Sharp

This week in our summer Meet The Members series we're featuring Claire Wilson Sharp.
Claire has enjoyed photography for many years, although for much of that time it was simply a way of recording memorable moments. Her camera usually accompanied her on holidays, where she found herself naturally drawn to landscapes, wildlife and the places she visited.
Inspired by a friend whose photography had flourished after joining a camera club, Claire decided to become a member of Otley Camera Club—and she describes it as one of the best decisions she's made.
Since joining, Claire's photography has gone from strength to strength. Regular club evenings, competitions and constructive feedback from visiting judges have encouraged her to challenge herself, develop new skills and explore genres she might never previously have considered. The result is an increasingly diverse portfolio, ranging from dramatic landscapes and wildlife to architecture, street photography, monochrome and creative travel images.
Claire particularly values the supportive atmosphere within the club. Whether it's sharing ideas with fellow members, receiving friendly advice, or benefiting from the club's mentoring programme, she has found a welcoming community that continually inspires her to keep learning and improving.
That dedication has certainly paid off. Over the past years it has been wonderful to watch Claire's photography blossom, culminating in her beautiful image "Preening Avocet" being awarded Otley Camera Club's Photo of the Year—a fitting recognition of the progress she has made through her enthusiasm, hard work and willingness to embrace new challenges.
For Claire, photography continues to be a journey of discovery, creativity and enjoyment, and the friendships made through the club have become just as rewarding as the photographs themselves.
