A warm night of feedback on Zoom and Night Competition judging around the corner
As the temperatures dropped dramatically last night, we decided to move our Otley Camera Club meeting onto Zoom. Despite the chilly weather outside, the evening turned out to be a wonderfully engaging and interactive session that left us all feeling inspired and connected.
The focus of the evening was on providing constructive feedback on members' images. To make this process as inclusive and effective as possible, we split into four smaller groups. This allowed for detailed discussions in a more intimate setting, ensuring that every image received the attention it deserved.
For each image, we took the time to highlight what we appreciated—whether it was a striking composition, creative use of light, or an evocative story. Alongside this, we offered thoughtful suggestions for areas the authors might consider refining. This balanced approach ensured that feedback was both encouraging and actionable.
At the end of the group sessions, the authors of the images received feedback from all four groups. This provided a wealth of perspectives, giving them plenty to celebrate and think about as they continue their photographic journeys.
This week, we welcome Monty Trent, who will be joining us to judge our Night Photography competition. Monty brings a wealth of experience and insight, making this a fantastic opportunity for all members to showcase their work and refine their skills.
The competition will feature two categories:
Prints
Digitally Projected Images
Monty will select his personal favourites from each category, offering a unique perspective on what makes a night photograph truly stand out. But this event is not just about selecting winners; it’s a chance to learn and grow as photographers.
