About the Event
"A photograph is often looked at, seldom looked into." These are the wise words of iconic landscape photographer Ansel Adams. When we look at photographs we often only look at the composition and technical structure of how it was made, however, there is so much more to see! When we look beyond the superficial nature of a photograph, a world of discovery awaits us. This talk is a window into that world.
Through entertaining analogies and thought provoking photographs, I reveal how powerful photography can be, from helping us to communicate on a global scale to isolating individual observations. As I uncover hidden powers, and powers many photographers take for granted, we are encouraged to look deeper into the expressive medium of photography; beyond what warrants a 'good' competition winning photograph to what connects us with our subject matter, what stimulates us to pick up a camera and, most importantly, how we can convey our own personalities through the images we make.
