This week we held our Annual General Meeting. A big thank you to members who have agreed to continue their roles and to the newly appointed committee members. Please see a message from the chairman at the bottom of this post.
Next week at the club, it is the annual photography battle with Cookridge Camera Club. Each club will submit 10 digital images and 10 printed images. These will be judged and points awarded. At the end of the judging, the club with the most points will be triumphant. It is always a hugely enjoyable evening and we will let you know how we get on.
I would like to thank the Club Members and the Members of the Committee for making 2017 a great year for Otley Camera Club.
I’d like to thank Keith and Les for running competition after competition flawlessly throughout this year. I’d like to thank Julie for making sure the clubs finances are all in order, the subs all collected and all our bills paid. Diane for arranging the “Out and Abouts”, The Parish Church Exhibition, Christmas Parties and generally keeping me on my toes as Vice Chairlady. Mary for keeping the Clubs profile in the News and Trevor for arranging our Annual Prize Giving Dinner at the Otley Golf Club. Also for everyone’s input into this year’s Club Events including entering the competitions, exhibitions, the cakes, the wine and most importantly your time.
We have had quite a year with talks from Sally Sallett, Lizzie Shepard, Nick Hodgson, Colin Williams, Imran Mirza and workshops with Gerry Gentry and Lorraine Hink’s along with talks and tutorials from our own Helen Reynolds, Andy Hoyle, Dave Autumns and Keith Crowther.
We have had our photography judged by Andrew Stephenson (twice), David Powell, Howard Tate, Jason Theaker, Sally Sallett and Imran Mirza.
Out and Abouts trips have been to Haworth 1940’s Weekend, Whitby Goth Weekend, Thorp Perrow, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, York Bird of Prey, Scarborough and other destinations have been enjoyed by Club Members including the long weekend break in Keswick with a whistle-stop photography tour of the Lakes. Out and About will become part of the club calendar as a permanent fixture going forwards. Thanks again to Diane for arranging our trips away.
We had an amazingly successful first Parish Church Exhibition, which we are repeating this year. We were able to make donations totalling £500 from the Cheese and Wine Night to Talking Books for the Blind and the Askwith Play Group. We need your support again this year to make it another success.
This was followed up with our Annual Exhibition held in the Courthouse from mid-August to the end of September. The exhibition launch party this year was well attended. Thanks to Julie for arranging the evening.
Our website is a big draw and will go on improving throughout 2018.
