In Search of Charlie Cernow

Last Thursday night Otley Camera Club had a marvelous and very different Zoom talk from Alan Harris "In Search of Charlie Cernow" - very different from the normal "photos for competition" style about a project very personal to him but fascinating for others to hear about. It prompted a discussion from the club members after, about maybe doing some local based projects which contain photos that wouldn't be considered for competitions - things that are disappearing and should be recorded like local Pubs as Otley was once famous for the number of pubs it had which have declined seriously in numbers. So thank you Alan for the thought provoking talk and we recommend it to other clubs.

Free LRPS Advisory Day

As a club we are becoming increasingly ambitious and there are members amongst us who are starting to think about gaining some 'official' recognition. There are a number of photographic merit awards at different levels that members can aim for. The Royal Photographic Society offers Licentiate (LRPS), Associate (ARPS) and Fellowship (FRPS). Next season we will be visited by Andrea Hargreaves, who is the awards officer for the Yorkshire Photographic Union (YPU), and she will be talking to us about Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) distinctions.
