Annual Awards Presentation Evening

Saturday night was our Annual Awards Presentation Evening held at Otley Golf Club. After a meal and a fiendishly hard dingbats quiz set by our member Ian Stuart, the annual awards were handed out. Certificates were given to members who had been placed in any of the competitions this year with a trophy given to the member who received 1st place. There was also a trophy for the overall winner of the year. This was based on a league table with members earning points each time they had an image placed in a competition. A huge congratulations to Charlotte Naylor who was this year's winner.

Chairman’s Challenge

Thursday night saw our first ever Chairman’s Challenge.  A couple of months ago, members were asked to vote on the theme of the evening and the decision was made of ‘reflections’.  Images were then entered relating to the theme.  Phil (our chairman) had the unenviable task of selecting the winner. On the evening, Phil shared his thoughts about each image and announced his top three.  He also showed how he would have edited to some of the photos which allowed a good discussion with members on which they preferred. A huge congratulations to Julie Wilks who took 1st place with her amazing skyline and reflection image.

Haworth’s 1940’s Weekend

On Saturday, we had an Out and About trip to Haworth for their 1940’s weekend. It is an amazing sight with the iconic cobbles full of people dressed in clothing from the era and a plethora of events happening. Many of our members get some amazing images which often appear in our competitions which run throughout the year. The portrait shots are always stunning. Thank you to Keira for allowing us to share her excellent set of images from the day and well done to Ian for getting fully into the spirit and dressing up. Industrial Heritage Results

Thursday saw the judging of our Industrial Heritage Competition. Our photos were judged by Andy Stephenson who did a fantastic job telling us what we have done so well and how we could have made them even better. Our members have said that they really enjoyed the category as it took them out of their comfort zone. As you can see, they still excelled! Click on the winning image in the projected image category (by Janet Gomersall) to see the results.

Macro / Close Up Results

The results of our Macro / Close Up competition are now on the site to view. The images were judged by Nick Hodgson who gave very positive feedback alongside ideas on how to make our photographs even better. We were also pleased to have a collection on the night for Nick as he had just returned from completing the London Marathon on behalf of MacMillian Cancer. We able to donate approximately £80. Well done Nick and thank you for your excellent judging. Click on the photo to see the results in our gallery.

Practical Evening

Last night we held a fantastic practical evening at our club. Some of our members set up stations for us to go to and practice our skills and most importantly receive some valuable help and guidance. The stations were mainly flowers with the use of black boxes and daylight lamps. From the images below you can see the amazing images that were achieved. A big thank you to the members who worked hard to make it such a success.
